The owners, Stephen and Susan

In an industry where salons are often run by stylists with little business skills, Stephen and Susan opened Pharaoh’s Hairum with a mission to provide outstanding customer service and an environment where our staff can develop their craft and thrive…

We’re so excited to style and work with you!

Learn more about the history of Pharaoh's Hairum

Great results happen when caring people work as a team to ensure outstanding service!

In 1980, with Stephen’s incredible talent as a Hair Designer and Susan’s love and background in business, they decided to take on the challenge of opening up their own salon. Pharaoh’s Hairum opened with only three employees working in just 600 square feet of space!

In 1988, they opened the first children’s specialty haircut department called “Little Tut’s Cuts Children’s Salon”. In 1991, they expanded into a second location in the Town of Pittsford, and in 1992, a third location was opened in a building they purchased in the City of Rochester on Meigs Street. In 1995, they combined the City location’s business into the Henrietta location and remodeled the entire building into a salon and spa. They determined that, to ensure their excellent customer service goals, it would be more attainable with two larger locations rather than three. In 2001, they moved their Pittsford location into the Town of Fairport at Packett’s Landing on the canal and doubled their space, adding another separate spa department.

Stephen and Susan also feel it’s important for a successful business to give back to the community and help make a positive difference. They have raised money for over 15 water tanks for Uganda Water Project, support local food cupboards, and provide several other local charities with raffle gift cards, etc. They also help to raise money for the desperate struggling animal rescue organizations in Jamaica and locally.

Today, Pharaoh’s Hairum has over 30 employees and has been recognized throughout the years with awards in Total Look and other hair competitions, Salon Today 200, D&C Rochester’s Choice Awards, Nextdoor Favorites, Rochester’s top 20 Salons, and Three Best Rated Salons. Stephen has been a platform artist for various salon manufacturers. His work has been displayed on New York City’s Mariott Marquis, and he has been recognized with the Master of The Craft Award from the Art & Fashion Group International.

Making A Difference

Because a kinder, healthier world is a beautiful world. Here’s a closer look at some of the causes we support…

Ugandan Water Project

There are 800 million people without access to safe drinking water, and here at Pharaoh’s, we are helping to change that one community at a time!

Each 2,500 gallon rainwater collection tank provides a stable source of clean drinking water for about 400 people! Pharaoh’s and their guests have helped to raise the fund to purchase over 17 tanks so far!

Caribbean Animal Crisis

If you have ever traveled to the Caribbean, you have probably noticed the absolutely horrible plight of the many stray, abused, and abandoned animals. After having witnessed this ourselves, we are determined to do what we can to help two dedicated organizations in Jamaica who are tirelessly working to tackle the problem through education, rescues, medical attention, and adoptions. Their efforts depend totally on donations.

  • The Animal House Jamaica
  • Montego Bay Animal Haven

Get Involved

We also often support Lollypop Farm and other local animal organizations in the Greater Rochester area. When possible, we provide gift cards to various charities for raffles and fundraisers.

If you would like to help with a donation towards any of these causes, please contact us or leave your donation with one of our customer service representatives!
